Getting Started

Mix It Up connects directly to your Twitch channel so chat, subscriptions, bits, channel points, raids, polls, and predictions can all drive your stream automation from one place.

Actions

Twitch actions allow you to perform actions on your Twitch channel, such as hosting, raiding, and running ads.

This action supports the following options:

Raid: Raids the specified channel
VIP User: VIPs the specified user. VIP can be set to be automatically removed from the user by using the Automatic Removal option. This will only occur while Mix It Up is running and lapsed durations while Mix It Up is not running will be automatically handled when Mix It Up is next launched.
Un-VIP User: Un-VIPs the specified user.
Run Ad: Runs ads for the requested number of seconds. Ads are not guaranteed to always run when this is triggered and may run for more or less than the specified length.
Clip: Create clips between 5 and 60 seconds (Default 30 secs) of your stream and provides the Special Identifier $clipurl which contains the URL of the clip created. Optionally provide your own clip title and duration (5 secs to 60 secs, default is 30 if left empty)
Stream Marker: Places a marker at the current time in your stream.
Create Poll: Starts a poll in your channel. Actions can be added to be run when the poll has completed and the Special Identifier $pollchoice can be used in them for the highest voted choice for the poll.
Create Prediction: Starts a prediction in your channel. Actions can be added to be run when the prediction has completed and the Special Identifier $predictionoutcome can be used in them for the winning outcome of the prediction.
Update Channel Point Reward: Updates a Channel Point Reward in your stream. This can only be performed on Channel Point Rewards created by Mix It Up on the Channel Point Reward Commands page.
Enable Emote Only: Enables emote-only mode in your channel.
Disable Emote Only: Disables emote-only mode in your channel.
Enable Followers Only: Enables follower-only mode in your channel where users must have been following the channel for at least X many minutes to participate.
Disable Followers Only: Disables follower-only mode in your channel.
Enable Slow Chat: Enables slow chat in your channel where users can only send messages every X many seconds.
Disable Slow Chat: Disables slow chat in your channel.
Enable Subscribers Chat: Enables subscriber-only mode in your channel.
Disable Subscribers Chat: Disables subscriber-only mode in your channel.
Set Title: Sets the title for the channel.
Set Game: Sets the game/category for the channel.
Set Custom Tags: Sets the custom tags for the channel.
Send Announcement: Sends an announcement for the channel.
Send Shoutout: Sends a shoutout for a specific user for the channel.
Snooze Next Ad: Attempts to snooze the next upcoming automatic ad, if there are enough snoozes available. No error will be indicated if this fails.
Warn User: Sends an official Twitch warning to a viewer. The user has to acknowledge it before they can chat again.
Shield Mode On: Activates Shield Mode on your channel, applying your pre-configured Twitch chat protections.
Shield Mode Off: Deactivates Shield Mode and restores your normal chat settings.
Pin Message: Sends a chat message and immediately pins it to the top of chat for 20 minutes.
Unpin Message: Unpins the currently pinned message from chat.
Set Suspicious User Status: Marks a viewer as suspicious. Their chat will either be monitored or restricted (messages hidden by default).
Remove Suspicious User Status: Clears a viewer’s suspicious status so they’re treated as a regular chatter again.
Block User: Blocks a viewer from your Twitch account. Hides their whispers and prevents follows, gifts, watching your stream, and other interactions. Note: their chat messages can still appear in your channel chat (use Ban or Timeout for that).
Unblock User: Removes a viewer from your blocked list.
Update Redemption Status: Updates a Channel Point Reward to Fulfilled or Canceled (refund points). This can only be performed on Channel Point Rewards created by Mix It Up on the Channel Point Reward Commands page.

Events

Twitch Channel Stream Start

This event will run when your stream goes from offline to online. It is often used to send out Discord and social media notices to alert users that your stream is starting. This event is only triggered once per-application launch. This event provides no additional special identifiers.

Twitch Channel Stream Stop

This event will run when your stream goes from online to offline. It is often used to send out Discord and social media notices to alert users that your stream has ended. This event is only triggered once per-application launch. This event provides no additional special identifiers.

Twitch Channel Updated

This event will run when a change to your stream has been detected such as your title or category. It can be used to either notify your stream about a change or to perform specific actions based on the new changes. When it fires, this event provides the following additional special identifiers: $streamtitle, $streamgameid, $streamgameimage, $streamgame, and $streamgamename. It is also often used with the broader Stream Special Identifiers.

Twitch Channel Followed

This event will run the first time a user follows during this specific session of Mix It Up. This means that if a user follows, unfollows, and then re-follows quickly, it will only run the first time. This event is only triggered once per-user, per-application launch.

This event provides no additional special identifiers, however, it is often used with the User special identifiers.

Twitch Channel Raided

This event triggers when a channel raids your channel. It is often used to thank the user for the raid using chat and possibly overlay. Raids on Twitch are considered an active action and have a user count associated with them. This event is only triggered once per-user, per-application launch.

The User special identifiers indicate the user that raided. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$raidviewercount = The number of viewers of the channel that raided (EX: 10)

Twitch Channel Outgoing Raid Completed

This event triggers when your channel successfully completes a raid to another channel. Note that this will not trigger when you start the raid process (IE, when the countdown starts), but when your stream officially ends and your channel is now broadcasting the raided channel. This event is only triggered once per-application launch.

The Target User Special Identifiers indicate the user that you are raiding. This event provides no additional special identifiers.

Twitch Channel Subscribed

This event will run when a user subscribes to your channel. This event is only triggered once per-user, per-application launch.

In addition to regular User Special Identifiers, this event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$usersubplan = The tier of the plan (Prime/Tier 1/Tier 2/Tier 3)
$usersubplanname = The specialized name you have set for that tier of subscription
$usersubpoints = The number of subscriber points contributed to your channel for this subscription
$usersubdurationmonths = The number of months purchased in a multi-month subscription, or 1 for a regular subscription (EX: 3)

Twitch Channel Resubscribed

This event will run when a user resubscribes to your channel. This event is only triggered once per-user, per-application launch.

In addition to regular User Special Identifiers, this event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$usersubplan = The tier of the plan (Prime/Tier 1/Tier 2/Tier 3)
$usersubmonths = The cumulative number of months that the user has been subscribed for
$usersubstreak = The continuous number of months that the user has been subscribed for
$usersubpoints = The number of subscriber points contributed to your channel for this subscription
$usersubdurationmonths = The number of months purchased in a multi-month resubscription, or 1 for a regular resubscription (EX: 3)
$message = An optional message that the user can supply when resubscribing

Twitch Channel Subscription Gifted

This event will run for every user that is gifted a subscription by another user in your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the user that GIFTED the subscription (Ex: $username), while the Target User Special Identifiers reference the user that RECEIVED the subscription (Ex: $targetusername). This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$usersubplan = The tier of the plan (Prime/Tier 1/Tier 2/Tier 3)
$usersubmonthsgifted = The total number of months gifted to the user in this specific instance
$usersubpoints = The number of subscriber points contributed to your channel for this gifted sub
$isanonymous = Whether the sub gifting was done anonymously (EX: true/false)

Twitch Channel Mass Subscriptions Gifted

This event will run once for each time a user in your channel gifts a set of mystery subscriptions. Mystery subscriptions are when the user selects a number of subs to gift and they are randomly gifted out to users in the channel. For example, if a user gifts 5 subscriptions to your channel, this event will be run once, while the Twitch Channel Subscription Gifted will be run 5 times, once for each user. The User Special Identifiers reference the user that GIFTED the subscription (Ex: $username).

What determines whether this command or the Twitch Channel Subscriptions Gifted command will run is based on what is set for the Twitch Mass Gifted Subscriptions Filter Amount under Settings -> Commands. This option is designed to help reduce the spam of subscription gifted commands and provide a better experience for your stream. For example, if this option is enabled and the amount is set to 5, then any time 5 OR LESS subscriptions are gifted at once, it will ONLY run the regular Subscription Gifted event for each subscription. If MORE THAN 5 are gifted, then it will ONLY run the Mass Subscriptions Gifted event once. Note that this will cause the processing of Subscription Gifted & Mass Subscription Gifted events to be slightly delayed, typically less than 10 seconds.

This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$usersubplan = The tier of the plan (Prime/Tier 1/Tier 2/Tier 3)
$subsgiftedamount = The number of subscriptions gifted for this specific instance
$subsgiftedlifetimeamount = The number of subscriptions gifted by the user for their lifetime
$substotalpoints = The total number of subscriber points contributed to your channel for these gifted subs
$isanonymous = Whether the sub gifting was done anonymously (EX: true/false)

Twitch Channel Watch Streak

This event is run when a user shares out a watch streak within the channel. In addition to regular User Special Identifiers, this event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$userwatchstreak = The total streak of the user at that time (EX: 10)
$watchstreakchannelpointsawarded = The total amount of channel points awarded to the user (EX: 450)
$message = The message included when a user shares their watch streak

Twitch Channel Modiversary

This event is run when a moderator shares out their mod anniversary within the channel. In addition to regular User Special Identifiers, this event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$usermodiversarymonths = The number of months the user has been a mod for (EX: 10)
$message = The message included when a moderator shares their mod anniversary

Twitch Channel Highlighted Message

This event is run when a user utilizes the Highlight Message channel point reward in your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the user who triggered the event. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$message = The message included with the channel point reward

Twitch Channel User Intro

This event is run when a user utilizes the User Intro feature in your chat. It is often used with the User special identifiers, and provides the following additional Special Identifier:

$message = The intro text the user included

Twitch Channel Power-Up Message Effect

This event is run when a user utilizes the Message Effects channel point reward in your chat. The User Special Identifiers reference the user who triggered the event. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$message = The message included with the channel point reward

Twitch Channel Power-Up Gigantified Emote

This event is run when a user utilizes the Gigantified Emote channel point reward in your chat. The User Special Identifiers reference the user who triggered the event. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$emotename = The text name associated with the emote
$emoteurl = The image URL for the emote

Twitch Channel Power-Up Celebration

This event is run when a user utilizes the Celebration channel point reward in your chat. This event provides no additional special identifiers, however, it is often used with the User special identifiers.

Twitch Channel Ad Upcoming

This event is run when the next automatic ad will trigger within the time range specified under Setting -> Commands -> Twitch Upcoming Ad Command Amount (Minutes). For example, if the amount specified is 5 in the settings area, then this command will trigger approximately 5 minutes before the next automatic ad is performed in the channel. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$adsnoozecount = The total number of snoozes currently available for the channel (EX: 3)
$adnextduration = The duration in seconds of the next upcoming automatic ad (EX: 60)
$adnextminutes = The number of minutes until the next upcoming automatic ad (EX: 4)
$adnexttime = The timestamp of when the next automatic ad will play (EX: 1:23 PM)

Twitch Channel Ad Started

This event is run when an ad break starts in the channel. Note that this command is triggered when Twitch notifies of an ad break starting, which is not necessarily when the ad break will start playing for all viewers in the channel. This means that there could be a delay of a few seconds from when this command is triggered to when users start seeing ads on their end. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$adduration = The duration in seconds of the current ad (EX: 60)
$adisautomatic = Whether the current ad was an automatic ad or a manually-triggered ad (EX: true)

Twitch Channel Ad Ended

This event is run when an ad break finishes in the channel. Note that this command is triggered based on when Twitch notifies of an ad break starting + the duration of the ad break, which is not necessarily when the ad break will finish for all viewers in the channel. For example, if an ad break starts at 1:10 PM and the duration is 120 seconds, this command will trigger 1:12 PM. This means there could be a delay of a few seconds from when this command is triggered to when users stop seeing ads on their end. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$adduration = The duration in seconds of the current ad (EX: 60)
$adisautomatic = Whether the current ad was an automatic ad or a manually-triggered ad (EX: true)

Twitch Channel Bits Cheered

This event is run when any form of bits are cheered in your channel which come from chat messages, but not from extensions. The User Special Identifiers reference the user who triggered the event. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$bitsamount = The number of bits cheered
$message = An optional message that the user can supply when cheering bits
$messagenocheermotes = An optional message that the user can supply when cheering bits, but with all cheermotes removed.

Twitch Channel Points Redeemed

This event is run when any CUSTOM channel points reward is redeemed in your channel, regardless of if it is set to auto-fulfill or must be manually fulfilled. The User Special Identifiers reference the user who triggered the event. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$rewardname = The name of the reward
$rewardcost = The cost of the reward
$message = An optional message that the user can supply when the reward is redeemed

Twitch Channel Custom Power-Up Redeemed

This event is run when a custom power-up is redeemed in your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the user who triggered the event. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$powerupname = The name of the power up
$powerupcost = The cost of the power up
$message = An optional message that the user can supply when the power up is redeemed

Twitch Channel Charity Donation

This event is run when a charity donation is performed in your channel for your set Twitch charity. It provides all of the Donations special identifiers and the User Special Identifiers reference the user who donated. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$charityname = The name of the charity.
$charityimage = The image URL of the charity.

Twitch Channel Hype Chat

Note: This event does not currently fire in Mix It Up. Twitch Channel Hype Chat exists only as an event-type definition and display-name string in the code (there is no EventSub subscription or handler that dispatches it), so in practice none of the Special Identifiers listed below are actually provided. The list reflects the intended design only.

This event is intended to run when a hype chat is performed in your channel. The User Special Identifiers would reference the user who performed the hype chat. When implemented, this event is designed to provide the following additional Special Identifiers:

$message = The message included with the hype chat.
$hypechatlevel = The level of the hype chat.
$hypechatamount = The amount spent as part of the hype chat in display format (EX: $1.23)
$hypechatamountnumber = The amount spent as part of the hype chat in pure decimal format (EX: 1.23)
$hypechatamountnumberdigits = The amount spent as part of the hype chat as pure digits (EX: 123)

Twitch Channel Hype Train Start

This event runs when a hype train is started by Twitch. It is often used to hype up the chat and encourage them to contribute. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$hypetrainlevel = The current level that the hype train started on
$hypetrainlevelpoints = The current points so far for the current level
$hypetrainlevelgoal = The required number of points to complete the current level
$hypetraintotalpoints = The total points earned for this hype train

Twitch Channel Hype Train Progress

This event runs each time progress is made toward the current level of an active hype train on Twitch. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$hypetraintotalpoints = The total points earned for this hype train so far
$hypetrainlevel = The current level of the hype train
$hypetrainlevelpoints = The current points so far for the current level
$hypetrainlevelgoal = The required number of points to complete the current level

Twitch Channel Hype Train Level Up

This event runs when a level up occurs during a hype train on Twitch. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$hypetraintotalpoints = The total points earned for this hype train so far
$hypetrainlevel = The current level of the hype train
$hypetrainlevelpoints = The current points so far for the current level
$hypetrainlevelgoal = The required number of points to complete the current level

Twitch Channel Hype Train End

This event runs when a hype train is ended by Twitch. It is often used to thank the chat. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$hypetraintotalpoints = The total points earned for this hype train
$hypetraintotallevel = The final level achieved for this hype train

Twitch Channel User Warned

This event is run when a moderator issues a warning to a chatter in your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the moderator who issued the warning, while the Target User Special Identifiers reference the user who was warned. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$warnreason = The reason given for the warning (EX: Spamming)

Twitch Channel Shoutout Received

This event is run when another broadcaster gives your channel a shoutout. The User Special Identifiers reference the broadcaster who sent the shoutout. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$shoutoutviewercount = The number of viewers the shouting-out broadcaster had at the time of the shoutout (EX: 150)

Twitch Channel Suspicious User Message

This event is run when a viewer that Twitch has flagged as suspicious sends a message in your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the suspicious user. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$suspicioususerstatus = The current suspicious status Twitch has assigned to the user. Possible values: none, active_monitoring, restricted
$suspicioususertypes = The type(s) of suspicious activity associated with the user. Possible values: manually_added, ban_evader, banned_in_shared_channel
$suspicioususerbanevasion = The ban evasion likelihood Twitch has assessed for the user. Possible values: unknown, possible, likely

Twitch Channel Suspicious User Updated

This event is run when a moderator updates the suspicious status of a viewer in your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the moderator who made the change, while the Target User Special Identifiers reference the affected viewer. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$suspicioususerstatus = The new suspicious status assigned to the user. Possible values: none, active_monitoring, restricted

Twitch Channel Shield Mode Started

This event is run when Shield Mode is activated on your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the moderator who activated Shield Mode. It is often used to post an alert in chat or restrict bot commands during a harassment event. This event provides no additional special identifiers.

Twitch Channel Shield Mode Ended

This event is run when Shield Mode is deactivated on your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the moderator who deactivated Shield Mode. It is often used to restore normal bot behavior after a harassment event has ended. This event provides no additional special identifiers.

Twitch Channel Unban Request Created

This event is run when a banned user submits an unban request for your channel. The User Special Identifiers reference the user who submitted the request. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$message = The appeal text the user included with their unban request

Twitch Channel Unban Request Resolved

This event is run when an unban request for your channel is resolved. The User Special Identifiers reference the user whose request was resolved. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$unbanrequeststatus = The outcome of the unban request as reported by Twitch (EX: approved, denied)
$message = The resolution text the moderator included when resolving the request

Twitch Channel Goal Started

This event is run when a Creator Goal is started on your channel. It is often used to announce the goal in chat or on overlays to encourage viewers to contribute. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$goaltype = The type of goal that was started. Possible values: follower, subscription, subscription_count, new_subscription, new_subscription_count, new_bit, new_cheerer
$goaldescription = The description set for the goal, up to 40 characters (EX: Hit 1000 followers!)
$goaltargetamount = The target amount set for the goal (EX: 1000)
$goalcurrentamount = The current value of the goal at the time it started (EX: 200)

Twitch Channel Goal Progress

This event is run each time a Creator Goal on your channel makes progress, such as gaining a new follower or subscriber for the goal. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$goaltype = The type of goal that made progress. Possible values: follower, subscription, subscription_count, new_subscription, new_subscription_count, new_bit, new_cheerer
$goaldescription = The description set for the goal, up to 40 characters (EX: Hit 1000 followers!)
$goaltargetamount = The target amount set for the goal (EX: 1000)
$goalcurrentamount = The current value of the goal after this progress update (EX: 201)

Twitch Channel Goal Ended

This event is run when a Creator Goal ends on your channel, whether or not the target was reached. The $goalachieved identifier can be used in a conditional action to branch between a celebration response and a standard wrap-up message. This event provides the following additional Special Identifiers:

$goaltype = The type of goal that ended. Possible values: follower, subscription, subscription_count, new_subscription, new_subscription_count, new_bit, new_cheerer
$goaldescription = The description set for the goal, up to 40 characters (EX: Hit 1000 followers!)
$goaltargetamount = The target amount set for the goal (EX: 1000)
$goalcurrentamount = The final value reached when the goal ended (EX: 873)
$goalachieved = Whether the goal target was reached. (EX: true)

Twitch Channel Point Commands

Note: Twitch has a maximum limit of 50 Channel Point rewards. If you reach this limit, you’ll need to go to the Channel Points editor and remove an existing reward before adding a new one. This includes both enabled and disabled rewards.

The Twitch Channel Points feature allows you to create commands that can be triggered automatically when specific Twitch Channel Point Rewards are redeemed in your Twitch channel. There are some important caveats to know about this feature:

Only CUSTOM Channel Point Rewards can be setup for this system. Any of the default ones available for all channels do not get sent to us and can not trigger a command
Commands assigned to a reward will trigger as soon as the reward is purchased by a user, NOT when it has been marked as complete by you or a moderator. Because of this, if you want to ensure all reward purchases are approved before it triggers a command, we do NOT suggest using this system to handle your Channel Point Rewards.

When working with Twitch Channel Point rewards, you have two options you can leverage:

If the Channel Point Reward already exists on Twitch or you want to create it directly on Twitch’s website first, you would use the “Add Command To Existing Reward” option. This will create a Mix It Up command that will be run when that Channel Point Reward is redeemed.
If you have not created the Channel Point Reward yet and you want to allow Mix It Up to be able to control the Channel Point Reward with the Twitch action, then you’ll need to use the “Create New Channel Point Reward” option. This will create a brand new Channel Point Reward with the name you specify and then create a Mix It Up command that will be run when that Channel Point Reward is redeemed. Details of your Channel Point Reward beyond the name of it can be edited on Twitch’s website by clicking on the “Channel Point Editor” button.

Twitch Channel Point commands provide the following additional Special Identifiers:

$rewardname = The name of the reward
$rewardcost = The cost of the reward
$message = An optional message that the user can supply when the reward is redeemed

Twitch Channel Point Rewards that have been created through Mix It Up with the “Create New Channel Point Reward” option can be dynamically updated via the Twitch action to do things such as enable/disabling rewards & updating reward information.

Twitch Bits Commands

The Twitch Bits commands feature allows you to create dedicated commands for when certain amounts of Twitch Bits are cheered.

Commands can be set up to either trigger when a specific amount of bits are cheered or when a range of bits are cheered. When bits are cheered in your channel, commands for specific amounts are checked first to see if any match. After that, commands with ranges are checked in order of increasing range amount. This can allow you to have multiple commands that overlap in both specific amounts and ranges, with priority being given to the smallest ones.

For example, let’s say you have three commands in total:

Command A: Specific Amount: 50 Command B: Range: 40 - 60 Command C: Range: 1 - 100

If 50 bits are cheered, then Command A will be triggered because it matches the specific amount. If 51 bits are cheered, then Command B will be triggered because it is the smallest range that encompasses that amount of bits. If 80 bits are cheered, then Command C will be triggered because it is the last remaining range that is applicable.

Twitch Bits commands provide the following additional Special Identifiers:

$bitsamount = The number of bits cheered
$message = An optional message that the user can supply when cheering bits
$messagenocheermotes = An optional message that the user can supply when cheering bits, but with all cheermotes removed.

Twitch Custom Power Up Commands

Note: Twitch has a maximum limit of 50 Power Ups If you reach this limit, you’ll need to go to the Power Ups editor and remove an existing power up before adding a new one. This includes both enabled and disabled power ups.

The Twitch Custom Power Up feature allows you to create commands that can be triggered automatically when specific Twitch Power Ups are redeemed in your Twitch channel.

Twitch Custom Power Up commands provide the following additional Special Identifiers:

$powerupname = The name of the power up
$powerupcost = The cost of the power up
$message = An optional message that the user can supply when the power up is redeemed
